Does curses come true?

“So it is that curse that prevented me to top my examinations, I guess!!!!!”

Has somebody cursed you? Have you cursed somebody? Do you believe in curses? Can somebody turn a human into statue just by words?  Well this is a quiet interesting unnoticed topic in today’s modern world. A curse is something that comes out of anger and vengeance. It is a form of negative energy. Here I mean words are energy. Does really words have such a power? If you are a scientific person not believing in fantasies then just recall your school syllabus, “Energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can be transferred from one form to another.” So in that case curses should have some power. People in Tamilnadu believe that persons having black tongue, whatever they say will come true. During my psychology classes, my professor played me a video where a man filled two boxes of white boiled rice. He named a box “good” and another box “bad”. Every day he sat in front of the good box and spoke to it how happy his day was and shared all his good deeds he had done that day. On the other hand, to the bad box he shared all his sorrows and problems he faced that day. He even showed his anger to it by uttering abusive words. At the end of one week, he found the rice in the good box remain white in color whereas the rice in bad box had turned brown and developed a rotten smell. Thus your positive and negative intentions on people definitely has an impact on them. Water is believed to be a good medium for curse. You can see black magicians perform their rituals with a bowl of water in front of them. We have also heard in ancient epics about the famous curses of kings and queens. The famous curse in Tamil literature is burning of Madurai by Kannagi for the injustice done to her husband. History also have some tragic cases by just misspelling words during cursing. If you are a novel reader then you must try Ashwin Sanghi’s “Chanakya’s Chant” where the entire story is based on a single curse of a chaste. Durvasa is a short tempered sage who holds the top position in cursing by cursing the highest number of people in history. You would have also heard in your daily life that someone has cast a bad spell or magic on someone to make their life unhappy. The theory contrary to this is boons. One is also blessed with good life and health for their good deeds. The best example in history is Tenali Raman blessed with witty wisdom by Goddess Kali. I will just give you another simple example. Let us imagine one of your relative is sick and your mother wants you to visit them so that they don’t think badly of you. On her compulsion you get some fruits, visit the person and tell them to recover soon. This is definitely going to do nothing. Where in other case, just from your house you just really wish they get well soon and that would definitely give some positive energy to the person. If we keep talking we can talk for years debating about this, but I just want to end it by saying, if you do not work hard or indulge yourself in bad activities, then definitely life is going to knock you down, who needs a curse? Remember “Karma is bommerang!”

What is it about death?

Can somebody please tell me where can I get a ticket for heaven?

Death is always a fantasy. Have you ever thought of your death? How it will happen? When and where it will happen? Humans just live on hope, hoping that you will get up the next morning, hoping that the plane you travel will not crash, hoping that you will cross the road safely. Nobody wants to die, maybe expect whose life is tragic of course, but normally nobody wants to die. How would death be? What will happen after your death? Will you go to God? But unfortunately we do not have exact answers for this as nobody has returned back from the dead. This is what science says, where on the other hand, religion says there are people who have come back from the dead. The very best example I can give you is “Resurrection of Jesus” after he had been nailed to the holy cross. Not only Christianity talks about people rising from dead, but also various religions like Hinduism and ancient Egyptians. Hindus believe in “atma” (spirit). They believe that death is only for the body which acts as a host for the soul. After the death, the soul may reach either the sun or the moon. The person who had lived by the laws of God without committing sins goes to the sun, where he attains moksha i.e. where he can rest in peace. On the other hand when the person has committed sins during his lifetime he goes to the moon, where he is destined to take a rebirth on earth and suffer for his sins in his early life. Egyptians built pyramids because they thought it would be helpful in preventing their body until they reach an eternal life. What is more interesting here is when somebody dies with unfulfilled wishes does he become a ghost after he die? This takes us to another dimension. This reminds me of a Hollywood movie “The other side of the door”, where a mom tries to contact his dead son and brings his soul back to earth where in the later part he wanders in the home as ghost. Historical myths tell us that people can attain immortality. Here are some of them. According to Hindu mythology, Guru Sukracharya bought back the dead people to life. He meditated for many years and got the secret mantra “Sanjeevani Mantra” from Lord Shiva which gave him the power to rise the people from dead. When I was a kid I was told by my granny that we have to place a photo of the dead with an oil lamp lit in front of the picture. The lights in the house should be put down and we have to pray for them and the dead person tries to contact with us through any means. Also you would have heard about transferring of souls from one body to another. This is also discussed in many ancient epics where a saint through proper mediation and other religious practices will be able to transfer his soul to another human body. There are also epics where sages gained immortality, but if that’s true we should see them still roaming on earth. Though there are many definitions for death it is still a scary topic to be discussed. Life after death still remains an unproved mystery. Now just keep your alarm on before you go to sleep tonight so that it wakes you up tomorrow morning!
